Our Work


Youth on the Rise (YOTR) is the Opportunity Youth Change Network for the Cradle to Career Partnership, focusing on the re-engagement of 16 to 24-year-olds not connected to school or work.

YOTR aims to provide educational and career pathways to all Opportunity Youth in Pima County. We have prioritized the creation of a safe place with caring adults where youth can receive support reconnecting to resources. Through the leadership of Goodwill Industries of Southern Arizona, METRO Youth Program offer re-engagement services.

Aspiration: Every youth who is not in school or work reconnects to education and career pathways

Indicator: Percent of 16- to 24-year olds NOT connected to school or work

Ensuring youth in Pima County obtain a high school diploma or GED and attain a post-secondary credential that leads to livable wages has widespread economic and social benefits for those youth, as well as our community. Opportunity Youth are telling us that caring adults, additional supports provided, and intentional referrals to external partners are crucial to successful re-engagement.

 

Current Projects:

  • Supporting the leadership of Goodwill Industries of Southern Arizona to offer multiple physical re-engagement spaces
  • Active implemented strategies with the Pima County Juvenile Justice Collaborative
  • Co-designing solutions for Opportunity Youth in the partnership with the United Youth Leadership Council
